THE SYMBOL OF WEALTH IN THOSE DAYS:

A barn

The barn and the size(s) of yam in the barns was a major source of knowing who is rich amongst our forefathers in those days.

There was competition in all aspects of their lives. Competition in farming in many acres of lands, planting various seeds. A time wives helped their husbands in the farming business, thereby, making their husbands richer than they were before getting married.

A time hard-work replaced killings and or using a fellow human being's parts, one's child or  parents  for ritual to make money as we hear or see today. A time when working harder to be like a rich man instead of planning to kidnap a rich man, his mother, wife, children or relations in order to make money was the order of the day.

Millions of acres of empty farm lands are wasting in various villages whereas many are rushing to town and urban areas even when they have nothing doing in those towns they ran to. What is happening to us today. There is much hunger in the land, yet the people don't want to go back to farms.

I believe that "WHERE THERE IS FOOD INSECURITY, CRIME WILL BE ON THE INCREASE, BECAUSE, HUNGER CAN LEAD TO STEALING AND OTHER CRIMES IN THE SOCIETY".

Our parents farmed, tilled the lands, ate fresher foods and fruits, as a result lived in better good health and lived longer than our generation.

No job(s) available in the land, and yet, there is apathy towards farming even on top of high hunger rate in the land.

Where did we start to fail and what is the way out? Why did things fall apart?

We will come back with a comprehensive details on this,.

Keep a date with us.

THE ABIRIBA ANNUAL LAW EDICT 2018 ( ITU EYE):

i

First of all, I want to state it clearly that those moving around with false information that there was nothing like Itu Eye for 2018 should be seen as rumour peddlers and enemies of Abiriba Enachioken Kingdom.

I stand to state categorically here that " I SAW A DOCUMENT THAT SHOWS THAT THE 2018 ITU EYE WAS DONE THE RIGHT WAY".

Again, from the information I gathered from the said document, it shows that, as is the norm, THERE WAS "IKA EYE" by the ENACHIOKEN-IN-COUNCIL on 10th July, 2018, which heralded the annual " ITU EYE" proclamations by the Enachioken of Abiriba H.R.H Eze K.K.Ogbu (IV) at the Amauku Square.

At the Ika Eye 2018, according to the Document that was shown to me,in attendance were:

1: The Enachioken of Abiriba , H.R.H Eze K.K. Ogbu (IV)
2: Ukpaghari of Amogudu , H.R.H Eze E.U.Ikpoka
3: Effa of Agboji - H.R.H Eze B.U .Agu
4:  Abiriba women-in council
5: Titled Chiefs ,etc.

THE 2018 LAW EDICTS:

1: The Abiriba kingdom bans LESBIANISM and HOMOSEXUAL activities within the Kingdom. Any man or woman found in this act within the Abiriba territory will be dealt with as spelt out in the new law.

2: That those who walks into Abiriba with tapes to measure lands and sell same to buyers should stop forthwith as such land sales have caused a lot of troubles in the family and amongst the people as such sellers disappears when the trouble comes out. Therefore, matrilineal/patrilineal  families  (IKWU) are advised to survey their lands and bring a copy to the Enachioken-In-Council for proper documentation and to forestall acts of illegal sales of such lands owned collectively by individuals.

3: That those boys who jubilates around with powder when their illegally impregnated girlfriends gives birth should cease such acts. That Abiriba Kingdom will not welcome anymore a situation where a young man will start jubilating around with powders even when he knew that he did not pay the girl's bride price. Pointing out that, even where the bride price of the lady was paid, that " IT IS THE MOTHERS THAT GOES AROUND WITH POWDERS TO SHARE THE JOYS, NOT MEN".

4: That those who drops their wastes into the gutters of Abiriba, thereby blocking the water from passing through which forces the waters to overflow the gutter and destroy our roads should desist from such acts or face the wrath of the Abiriba people. Also, that those whose compound square (Agbala) are too narrow to mount canopies during occasion should henceforth proceed to the empty and available fields to do their occasions and stop blocking the already narrow roads in Abiriba.

5:  Abiriba Enachioken warns TOWN CRIERS to beware of what information they accept from their senders. That any town crier who accepts to disseminate any information that later causes trouble in Abiriba will be held accountable. Therefore, nobody should give a town crier any message to disseminate without the consent of his traditional ruler.

6: That the eyes of the Kingdom is on those whose modus operandi is to remove program  FLEXES and BANNERS even though the occasion for which the banner was mounted had not taken place. That those in such acts will soon be dealt with the location where they take those banners to are well known.

7: That any pharmaceutical  shop that sells or that is found to be selling hard drugs such as "TRAMADOL" and those in the act of selling weeds to Abiriba youths will be prosecuted and closed down or sent packing if the shop owner is not from Abiriba.

Meanwhile, the new Uke Ji Agbala already sent a town crier to inform the people of Abiriba that the new laws has taken effect and that anybody found wanting will be dealt with accordingly.

NOTE:   All security agencies have been informed of the latest laws and I will bring to us the signed copies of the documents/edicts once it is ready and reaches me.

God bless Enachioken Kingdom.

WHEN SLEEPING WITH A MARRIED MAN

MY SUBMISSION

When you sleep with a married man and he shows you his beautiful baby girl, you will feel relaxed due to the fact you know it will just be a onetime thing.

No expectations, No pressure. Just one night and it will be over.

When you sleep with a married man and he tells you how much he loves his wife, you tend to have hope that one day- someone will love you just as much.

Someone will never let go of your hands, someone will walk you through your door- just as he did for his wife.

When you sleep with a married man and he tells you sex is a primal need- a necessity and he is just filling up a void, you wonder how it must feel like to be in his shoes. Admitting that he is eternally committed but having sex like he has never experienced how it’s like to be on the other side.

When you sleep with a married man and he asks you why you are single because he thinks that you are complete, you wonder too why you are unmarried.

Maybe because you choose to have fleeting moments instead of stable ones; maybe because you choose electricity over calm. Maybe because you just haven’t found the right one yet so expending and exhausting yourself to the wrong ones feel like the band-aid remedy.

Just like this one.

When you sleep with a married man and he tells you he used to be like you, sleeping around, never knowing when to commit and settle- makes you wonder if it is ever in the cards for you.

When you sleep with a married man and he tells you that he didn’t believe that it exists but was able to finally accept that there is after all the right person to see forever with- makes you finally see that anyone is worthy of love if they give it a chance.

When you sleep with a married man who says he is committed but makes himself available, you will realize that all your preconceived notions about dedication and relationship can get ruined in a snap.

You will then wonder how different commitment is from loyalty. How someone can be the most devoted husband and father but his loyalty is with the next girl he can share a night with. When you sleep with a married man, don’t ever think that he will leave his wife and baby because you have chemistry. No matter how much passion and fireworks there are, he can never be yours. I’m telling you, he will never leave his wife.

When you sleep with a married man, it will try to blur the lines between your hopeless romantic and cynic self.

How you wish you have met him a couple of years earlier when he wasn’t married yet or how you dream that this was just a Danielle Steele novel so that a happy ending can be a possibility. When you sleep with a married man, he will eventually let you go. And you must learn how to deal with all the spinning thoughts in your head.

When you have experienced all of these, you will finally comprehend that sleeping with a married man enables you to see the world differently.

Love can be a possibility but it can never take off. The debilitating fear of him repeating the pattern and circling back to how you started automatically numbs you every single time.

You will realize that having slept with a married man; you know that this kind of relationship thrive only on lust and attraction.

And it is left for you to make the right choice.

A TWISTED VIEW OF MARRIAGE!!!

MY HUMBLE OPINION

Humans will see a man washing his clothes and in preference to minding their business, they'll say "Ahh Oga Ude, go and marry so that you'll prevent washing".

They will see a man cooking and be like "Bro Samuel Kalu, you need to get married so you can stop cooking".

A mother will have a look at his 35years old son who can not wash his personal boxers, boil water for tea or maybe make his personal bed, a 35years old that cannot take his plates to the kitchen after eating and tell him "OMIC, you need to settle down, get a woman to take care of you". Seriously??

In distinct ways, the society subconsciously tell guys that they don't marry ladies for any reason aside from cleaning, cooking and childbearing. I start to marvel, does the common guy want a wife or a glorified maid?

Many ladies look 3times their age all due to stress and exhaustion. You sit down down in front of the television together with your phone and watch your spouse work till she's about to pass out. Really?? 😱

Guys, who advised you that it is incorrect to wash your own plates?

Who instructed you that it is incorrect to wash your personal clothes?

Who told you that it is incorrect to dress your bed when you wake up?

What will it take to assist your partner with chores in the house?

If a man wanted to be adopted as a child to be pet, pampered, fed and nursed. Then, he need not to seek marriage, he need to instead offer himself up for an adoption at a motherless home to be pick up.

However if you want a spouse, who you would love, cherish, do different things with, help in a few chores, and love her for the rest of your existence, then get married.

AND in case you are getting married due to the fact you sense you are becoming too old to do your own chores then get a maid.

Ladies are to be loved, pampered and cherished, not USED.

THE DRESSING OF ABIRIBA PEOPLE VS OTHER KINGDOMS:

                     ( LET'S COMPARE)

Benni kingdom dressing
Abiriba dressing

I was having an issue with some people some time ago about the way Abiriba men and women dresses and they all accused me of "OVER-LOVING ABIRIBA" and also " OVER EXAGGERATING EVERYTHING CONCERNING ABIRIBA", but were they right?

What was my crime? you may ask.

My crime was that I saw a man and a woman ( maybe they were husband and wive) coming from a distant angle, and once I looked at them, I told my "Mba" friends that those two people dressed like Abiriba people, and as we were arguing about it, they came close and I decided to confirm through greeting.

I stylishly walked out of the crowd and greeted them in Abiriba dialect " Ete Kaa o" and I turned to say "Iyaa unu agala e"!, and to everyone's greatest surprise, they both responded "Nwam unu n'ohu ezutu ike?", and alas, it came to pass that true to my earlier prediction, they were both Nde Abiriba for sure. The argument closed even though some of them accused me of knowing the man and woman, but I told them their dressing drew me into believing they were from Abiriba.

Now, looking at the pictures here, one would see the Enachioken, Eze Ihungwu and Eze Amogudu all wearing the white cloth regalia (Abacha cloth) which, according to Abiriba tradition, these Kings can only wear  during the Itu-Eyeh festival in July (Iri Ama), and also the people of Benin Ancient Kingdom in Edo State who wears same Abacha during their own festivals.

Can anyone spot the difference despite the white cloth being the same everywhere, and the fact that the people tying the white cloths are both men from Benin Kingdom and Abiriba Kingdom?.

The difference is clear, even the blind man can spot it. It is not a matter of exaggeration or defending indefensible issues because it concerns Abiriba.

The way Abiriba men and women dresses marks them out. Believe it or not.

THE ABIA STATE GOVERNOR VISITS ABIRIBA TODAY:

(MY HUMBLE PERSONAL OPINION)
Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu

The Abia State Governor, His Excellency Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, PHD, will be in Abiriba Enachioken Kingdom today (11/07/2018) on an official visit, and as he enters Abiriba with his entourage this afternoon, I know our early pioneers and ancestors would be looking up to the present stake holders in Abiriba.

Abiriba is a community known for her hospitality and has produced men who are bold in saying their minds about what the community and her people needs without minding whose ox is gored.

The current stake holders should be bold enough to tell the governor the needs of the people, because, as the election period draws closer and closer, our people must play their cards well. It should not be a gathering of "Nde Fonfuju akpas" which has hampered the development of Abiriba in recent times.

Abiriba, by right, deserves to be the first community to produce the Governor of Abia State upon creation of the state going by the enormous resources and sacrifices paid by mostly "Nde Abiriba" towards the creation of Abia State in 1991.

By 27th August, 2018, Abia State will be 27 years and it is unimaginable that an indigene of Abiriba has not smelt the Senatorial seat, Governor, Deputy Governor nor House of Representatives till date except the State House of Assembly occupied by Hon. Tony Okoro during Orji Uzor Kalu's tenure and now, Hon. Mandela Obasi. Late Senator Onyeka Amadi Okorafor would have been the Senator from Abiriba if their tenure wasn't truncated by the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election in which he could have served under the M.K.O. Abiola-led government.

Let us remind the governor that, WITHOUT THE EFFORTS AND CONTRIBUTION OF ABIRIBA PEOPLE, MOSTLY, OUR BUSINESSMEN, THE CREATION OF ABIA STATE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE.

The development and subsequent population of Aba, the Enyimba city was one of the criteria used by the Babangida Military government to create Abia State and the industries built by Abiriba people was responsible for Aba to receive the accolade as " THE JAPAN OF AFRICA" before the population explosion that followed.

It is on record that Abiriba has the highest number of prominent men who made themselves and their resources available towards the fight for the creation of Abia State. Therefore, we cannot continue to serve as POLITICAL MANURE  to every in-coming or out-going governments in the state.

Also, of utmost importance is to remind the governor that " WE DON'T HAVE MEDICAL FACILITIES IN ABIRIBA AND MANY OF OUR PARENTS, BROTHERS AND SISTERS ARE DYING UNNECESSARILY BECAUSE OF THIS VERY ISSUE.

Therefore, as the Governor visits, it should not be praises and praises alone without pointing out to him the needs of people while mapping out our political strategies very well.

I discovered a political disease which our people have been suffering of recent called " P.H.D".  P.H.D simply means in my laboratory analysis " PULL HIM DOWN", and it has been the bane of our politics in these days. Whenever an Abiriba man comes out to contest for a political office, our people will start talking all sorts of rubbish against him or her, instead, accepting to vote an outsider whose C.V they don't know.
Abiriba ancient men

The likes of Late Jonah Ndukwo Kalu (Ndukwonta), Okoro Ijagha, Ete Igwo and co will be shaking their heads in their graves should we continue to play the kind of politics we have been seeing in Abiriba over the past decades.

Finally, I pray that the governor's visit will not be to cook rice, dance round and dismiss.

Abiriba kaani.

WHY I WANT TO BE NIGERIAN PRESIDENT COME 2019_______ NWANKWO KANU

KANU NWANKWO

Former super Eagles captain, Nwankwo Kanu has been inspired through Liberian icon George Weah’s feat and has therefore said he will run for President of Nigeria in 2019.

Weah, who had a completely successful football career in Europe, was elected President of Liberia in the 2017 election, defeating the incumbent vice chairman Joseph Boakai, and sworn in on 22 January 2018.

"My presence right here these days is about the future of our country and the happiness of our people,” Kanu said on goal. The last 18 years of leadership has witnessed a decline in all vital sectors of life in Nigeria, plus general lack of self assurance in the land. Additionally, I’ll do all it takes to stop corruption which has turn out to be blatant and vast. The rest of the world look at Nigeria as the house of corruption. Kanu, who additionally had a successful profession in Europe, said. “If i get your mandate, I promise to do matters in a unique way and restore honour and integrity to public company via preserving the best and attracting the great. “George Weah’s victory in Liberia is a pointer that this dream is very realistic with you all on my side.

End of Ronaldo-Messi Monopoly: Four Contenders for Ballon d'Or

Win the world Cup and the balloon d'or

We should subsequently get a new Ballon d'Or winner provided a player from one of the contenders leads his country to final glory in Russia.

Ballon d’Or, the celebrated award given by France football to the footballer who plays better than everyone else over the path of the calendar year, has been shared between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, two behemoths of current day football, since 2008.

After Ronaldo lifted the UEFA Champions League trophy for the third year in a row as real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 back in may, many people had been satisfied the Madrid superstar would surpass his Barcelona rival by winning the Ballon d’Or one more time. on the other hand, Leo Messi, who received both la Liga and Copa del Rey with Barcelona this last season, needed to do some thing staggering with Argentina at world Cup 2018 to reclaim the award.

Finally, both Ronaldo and Messi had to depart Russia earlier than they might have hoped, as the Portuguese world Cup dream ended at the hands of a stubborn Uruguay side while the aging Argentina team lost in opposition to sprightly France. Brazil, France, England, and Uruguay are still in contention for world Cup success, and as a result, the award may be won by a new celebrity – Neymar, Mbappé, Cavani, or Kane – provided one of them leads his team to world Cup glory in Russia.

Harry Kane

England captain Harry Kane scored 30 premier League and 7 Champions league goals for Tottenham Hotspur within the 2017-18 season. Unsurprisingly, he has been the talisman for his national side as well, scoring 6 goals thus far and leading his side to a quarter-final clash in opposition to Sweden. Whilst he is already the front-runner to win the Golden Boot at world Cup 2018, he also can end up a strong Ballon d’Or contender if he guides his country to ultimate glory in Russia.

Edinson Cavani

Uruguayan striker Cavani helped Paris Saint-Germain win the domestic treble, scoring 28 Ligue 1 and 7 Champions league goals in 2017-18. Carrying his prolific club form to the biggest global event this summer, he has scored 3 goals in Russia up to now, two of which proved to be decisive inside the round of 16 battle in opposition to Portugal.

Even though Uruguay are not favorites to win the world Cup, they may fancy their chances to bring the trophy back home for the first time given that 1950 because of their world class defenders, agile midfielders, and deadly forwarders. But for that to occur, along with robust teamwork, Cavani will have to keep stepping up at vital moments. Cavani, who currently surpassed Ibrahimović to become PSG’s all-time top scorer, has in no way been touted as a Ballon d’Or contender, but he can claim all the attention if he performs to his ability in the subsequent 3 games at the world Cup.

Kylian Mbappé

PSG starlet Mbappé took the world through storm after destroying Argentina in the world Cup round of sixteen game a few days in the past. After impressing for Monaco in 2016-17, he also had a respectable starting at his current club, scoring 13 goals inside the French League and 4 in the Champions League last season. The 19-yr-old wonder youngster, considered by many as the new Pele, has already scored 3 goals at the world Cup.

France’s fulfillment at the world Cup heavily relies upon on the teenager, and he could set new records via winning multiple awards, which include the Golden Ball, best young player, and Ballon d’Or. Although he isn't always among the favorites for the latter prize, he can particularly beat everyone in the race provided he guides his country to glory, some thing they had been striving for since 1998.

Neymar

Earlier this year, many people thought the Ballon d’Or race would be limited to Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Mohamed Salah. Neymar missed the second half of the past season because of injury and it appeared he will be considered a contender only if he should lead his country to a record 6th world Cup title.

Even though often criticized for on-field playacting, Neymar has been Brazil’s power-house going forward, and he can finally take himself to the level of Messi and Cristiano if he improves his performances similarly in the coming matches at football’s greatest event. Apparently, Neymar, despite lacking a majority of the season for PSG, managed fantastic figures -- 19 goals and 13 assists in Ligue 1, and 6 goals and 3 assists in the Champions League.

At the world Cup, he has scored 2 goals and provided 1 assist as of the round of 16, and he is very much alive in the race for the Golden Ball and Ballon d’Or.

World Cup Ballon d'Or contenders

Neymar's hopes of bolstering his Ballon d'Or claims ended while Brazil bowed out however lots of stars continue to be at the 2018 world Cup.

This world Cup has proved adept at tearing up the excellent laid plans of many-fancied teams and individuals, perhaps none greater so than Neymar.

The Brazil forward's world-record transfer from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain previous  August was extensively viewed as an attempt to push his Ballon d'Or credentials away from Lionel Messi's significant shadow.

A prolific, if injury curtailed, debut season in Paris did not harm his possibilities however neither was it a definitive pitch to end Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's 10-year duopoly on the subject of football's most coveted individual prize.

The possibility created by Argentina and Portugal's last-sixteen exits was not grasped by Neymar as he turned in a frustrating show in the 2-1 quarter-final defeat to Belgium.

What is greater, the extensive-open remaining field in Russia features players who, if they perform decisively in a triumphing cause, can have demonstrably better Ballon d'Or credentials than Neymar and push the big; harder than they have been at any level over the past decade.

Right here, we take a look at the contenders.

Eden hazard – Belgium

There has been no doubting the superstar attacker roving from the left-hand side during Belgium's stirring victory over Brazil as He conclusively outplayed Neymar. The Chelsea superstar has been involved in 14 goals in his last 14 internationals, with 8 goals and 6 assists. continue that form into the final week of the tournament and those real Madrid rumours will virtually begin to rumble again.

Kylian Mbappe – France

Neymar's wingman at Paris Saint-Germain, in Russia Mbappe has underlined his recognition as one of the most thrilling players on earth and finished as France's most powerful attacking threat. He gained a penalty and scored twice to quit Messi's dream in an outstanding showing that illuminated the 4-3 mystery against Argentina.  three goals in general suggest only Pele has scored more as a teenager at a world Cup back in 1958. Mbappe has the whole thing to maintain working in such rarefied company.

Kevin De Bruyne – Belgium

Arguably shackled through a deep-lying position in midfield at some point of Belgium's first 4 matches, De Bruyne was unleashed towards Brazil and the beating heart of Roberto Martinez's team did not disappoint. A typically luxurious strike proved decisive from the Manchester city superstar, who was the best player in Pep Guardiola's record-breaking team previous  season. Like some of the others listed, the lack of a definitive Champions League campaign may want to act against De Bruyne in the Ballon d'Or reckoning.

Antoine Griezmann – France

Mbappe might be supplying the raw thrills however Griezmann is over again proving to be France's positive element at the business end of a major tournament. Beginning together with his run to the Golden Boot at Euro 2016, Griezmann now has seven goals in his last six knockout games for Les Bleus. After a brace in Atletico Madrid's Europa League final win over Marseille, firing France to their 2nd world Cup would cap a glittering yr for the newly contracted 27-year-old.

Harry Kane – England

Certain, there are penalties and set-piece goals aplenty in his handsome tournament haul of six, but it is time to stop pretending those goals one way or the other count for less. Kane is the nearest instance of a guaranteed performer England have had in a generation. In 2017, he outscored Messi and Ronaldo. If the Tottenham star ends 52 years of hurt for the 3 Lions he would occupy a dizzying place in the football pantheon.

Luka Modric – Croatia

Croatia's elegant inspiration and the shrewd intellect that guides real Madrid's bombast, Modric's body of work over the course of his career sets him aside from the other more youthful men in this list. The 32-year-old has scored two times from open play and two times more – just about – during penalty shootout triumphs in Russia and at times appeared to be dragging his flagging team-mates in the direction of that conclusion single-handedly during the 2-2 quarter-final slog against the hosts. A 4-time Champions League winner, few would begrudge Modric crowning Croatia's golden generation in style.

THE MAN - DAVID OGBA ONUOHA ( BOURDEX). MFR,OON. " UGOENA 1 OF ABIRIBA KINGDOM".

Chief David Ogba

On May, 29, 1952, a male child was born into the family of Chief and madam Onuoha Ogba of Ndi Ekom Compound, Binyom, Ameke, Abiriba.

Named "Ukaefi Njoku" at birth after his grandfather in line with Abiriba customs, and called "Ogba". Chief David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex holds a BSC (HONS) in Government and Public Administration. Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex spent his early childhood in Abiriba and was so obedient and humble to his parents, particularly his mother whose wares he hawked to earn the family some income without denying himself of those usual past time of trapping, hunting birds, fishing, etc. A devout lover of books who love spending much of his life on going to the library to read at Abiriba as a young man.

His service to his people and humanity started early in life when, during the  Nigeria/Biafra war, the young David was in the Red Cross, helping to distribute relief materials such as egg yolk, salted fish, stock fish, and Corn meal which was known as Garri Garbon to his people, thereby saving many lives as many would have died because of starvation and hunger.

BUSINESS:

Helping a lot of families to survive, earn a living through his investments by way of employment or via philanthropy has been his passion. No wonder when his peers were still having fun and picking kernels from their mother's laps, Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex built one of the plastic manufacturing industries in the 1980s , BOURDEX INTERNATIONAL PLASTIC LTD in Aba .

He founded EKEOHA COMMUNITY BANK LIMITED which later became EXPRESS MICRO FINANCE BANK LIMITED. He also established EXPRESS MONEY LINK (BDC) LIMITED and so many trading firms under the BOURDEX GROUP LIMITED. A  man with a vision and a good eyes for investments.

As if that was not enough, Bourdex became the First man in  the South Eastern part of Nigeria to obtain a telecommunications license to open and operate a telecommunications company known as BOURDEX TELECOMS over 20 years ago.

The first telephone call on his network was made precisely on July 22, 1998. Bourdex telecoms was a strong competitor to NITEL for many years. His love for his people made him to cite most of his Investments in the South-Eastern part of Nigeria, particularly, Aba,the Enyimba city, denying himself and his company of a more lucrative profits if he had stationed those investments like many other businessmen from the South East  in Lagos where the population is higher.

All these investments employed hundreds of people from all works of lives, towns and villages, and even when BOURDEX TELECOMS was put up for acquisition by VISAFONE, hundreds of those workers under Bourdex were absorbed into the new company as many are still working and receiving salaries till date, thanks to the vision of Bourdex.

It is on record that Chief David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex made it possible for the first phone to ring as far away as Mbaise in Imo State since the war ended and many communities in South East and South South Nigeria. He is a philanthropist of high esteem who has devoted his wealth investing heavily in human resources and infrastructure of the Abiriba community as well as other communities.

He holds various awards and titles such as Member of the Federal Republic (MFR), Order Of The Niger ( OON) both of which are national awards given in recognition of his contributions to the development of Nigeria.

IN POLITICS:

He joined politics to take his wealth of experience and kind-hearted service more to the people because of the bad governance in Nigeria and Abia North. He is a member of  ALL PROGRESSIVE GRAND ALLIANCE (A.P.G.A), a strong pillar and B. O. T  member of the party.   It is worth of note to point out that he made all his monies outside partisan politics.

He is the man Abia North need at the SENATE RED CHAMBERS to bring his wealth of experience, connections, contacts to bear in service to his people with sound representation.

David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex is a trailblazer who remains an " ENIGMA " to many. Meaning different things to different people depending on the area one is coming from or how one sees Bourdex. A man with a vision coated with good taste whose contributions towards mankind through his investments and philanthropy cannot go unnoticed even after he is gone, because, HISTORY MUST BE TOLD so long as records are being taken.

If making name and money rather than giving service and succor to the people is the major reason people join politics, I make bold to say that David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex will go into his inner bedroom to have a deep sleep with loud snoring, but since there are still things to be done and corrected in the political and other aspect of our peoples' lives, we need people like him in politics if our zone must move forward.

He is the " UGOENA 1 of Abiriba", the "Agbawo Dike izu of Ngwaland", he is "AGU NA ECHE MBA" of Ohafia, and many others.

He is the man of the people. Loved in his community and beyond.

TEENAGE PREGNANCIES: THE ABIRIBA FOUNDING FATHERS - VISIONARY OR STUPID?

A pregnant teenager

In recent years many Nde Abiriba have been wondering where the community is heading to due to some strange occurrences and traditions that are alien to Abiriba being witnessed today and which, unfortunately, our today's elders are reluctant or afraid of talking about or have refused to address.

Going by what obtains today in the society and in every other communities in Nigeria where teenage pregnancy is becoming or have become the order of the day,one would say that Abiriba ancestors or elders saw this coming and they put up a law or rules which "WE" the "NEW GENERATION" who sees our fore-fathers as ILLITERATE IDOL WORSHIPERS  regarded as archaic, barbaric and uncivilized laws or rules that should be expunged, because, by our reasoning "A CHILD IS A CHILD".

Looking around Abiriba today, where it is claimed that civilization and Christianity have taken over, one would find many places or homes where the First Son or Daughter in the house born in those days bore the names of relations, friends or well-wishers instead of the usual way of naming the first son or daughter after the man's biological father (if the child is a male child) while the first daughter bears the name of the mother of the child's father.

This is because, in those days, it was considered a "TABOO" to bear a child out of wedlock by the female folks or to impregnate a lady by mostly young men who happens not to be their husbands, or to put it rightly, " WHEN TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE CEREMONY HAD NOT TAKEN PLACE BETWEEN THE YOUNG MAN AND LADY.

It is important to note that there was nothing like a law mandating a man who mistakenly or intentionally impregnated a young lady to marry her in those days as seen today but the fear of one's name going negatively round the community in case the unfortunate happens was the order of the day. The advice was for young men and ladies to abstain totally from the act of bearing children out of wedlock to avoid the shame that will follow later, and the rules made a lot of head-ways in our society as it brought sanity and teenage pregnancies to the barest minimum.

Have we paused and pondered what killing of goat or ram when a young lady finds a husband in our tradition or why the mother of the bride ecstatically kills the ram or goat to celebrate her daughter who is about to get married known as "igbu ewu nso " in our local Abiriba dialect stands for?. There is an Abiriba adage or proverb that says " okuku madu luzie ogu ihu egbohu nna nwo ya". ( Meaning: when one's fowl fights a good fight the owner will not be shamed".

THE FACT THAT OUR FATHERS OWNED UP TO BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR SUCH UNWANTED PREGNANCIES IN THOSE DAYS, IN THE EVENT SUCH OCCURRED, IS ENOUGH REASON TO KNOW THAT THEY REALLY UNDERSTOOD THAT A CHILD IS A CHILD, but they frowned at having babies out of wedlock even though they mostly maintained practically a polygamous families in those days. But today the preaching and practice says "One man One wife" whereas the rate of teenage pregnancies and children born out of wedlock is triple than what use to obtain in those days when polygamy was in vogue.

Our fathers knew that a child is a child, hence they did not advice for the child to be aborted, but they refused to encourage bearing children out of wedlock when the young man knows nothing about taking care of a woman as her husband or the young girl knowing nothing about raising up a child as a mother. The refused to accept children born out of wedlock to be named after them to encourage their sons and daughters to do things the right way.

Our fore fathers saw what is happening today early enough and they made sure that ladies who got pregnant were not giving a befitting wedding in Abiriba neither were they allowed to sit at the compound squares popularly known as "iduru ogbo" like those who respected themselves and the tradional laws to encourage young men and women to marry and bear children the right way and through the right tradition.

It is on record that many parents, sisters and uncles stopped paying their children's or relatives' school fees when the young man impregnated a young lady either by mistake or accident or if the young girl gets pregnant while schooling as punishments. All these things were put in place to checkmate unwanted pregnancies which brings sufferings to the baby, and, in most cases, the mother, as most young men fails to take care of the baby and the mother after. Most parents punished their children as a result of unwanted pregnancies while many learned from it.

We are talking about a time that, even when a young lady's bride price had been paid by the would-be husband which is the main tradition, the two parties still waited until when their marriages takes place before the lady starts talking of getting pregnant ( i.e: If they want to do white wedding after). A time when marriages were only done in Abiriba. A time when some traditional presentation of wines (ibu mmanyi nwami) took place by one December and the wedding came up after one year (next December) or after some months, but all in Abiriba.

Patience and obedience to the traditional laws was the order of the day,and the people assigned the duties of meting out punishments to offenders did not look at faces in those days, but what do we see today? Total collapse of our traditional values and systems.

WHY THE BRITISH COULD NOT DESTROY ABIRIBA KINGDOM:

My good people of Abiriba and page followers, I wish to bring to our notice that Abiriba is a community with rich histories that needs to be explored and made known to our generations, and I find it interesting to share some information which many might not know or don't care to know or even when they do,they get things twisted.

I am of the opinion that " if the likes of King Jaja of Opobo  and Queen Amina of Zaria as well as Mrs Ransome Kuti could have their life records kept for the unborn generations to know that such people existed in life before passing on,so should we keep records of great men and women who made headlines in Abiriba before and during our time while alive".

Not only that these men ,past and present who made Abiriba proud in many ways should be remembered, but what they did for the protection, upliftment and propagation of the Abiriba course must not die unnoticed or unrecorded and that is why I am making these collections for our people in a book which I will publish when I am done.

This house (picture attached) which we are seeing today is "THE FIRST BUILDING IN ABIRIBA TO BE ROOFED WITH ZINC " . Although the old house itself was said to have been rehabilitated and upgraded after the Nigeria/Biafra civil as it was said to be the only building standing inside the Nde Akwu compound, Umueso, Ameke, Abiriba after the fall of Abiriba to the rampaging Nigeria federal armies when Abiriba people returned from the bush where they ran to for safety.

WHO OWNS THE HOUSE? : The house in question belongs to a very prominent Abiriba son and great merchant of his time -Late Chief Ude Itum of Nde Akwu compound, Umueso, Ameke, Abiriba. He was among the pioneers who made Abiriba what it is today early in life. He was also one of the pioneers of ACIU and Abiriba establishments.

According my findings, his achievement is not building the first house with zinc in Abiriba Kingdom alone. He did what would be hard for anyone to do in Abiriba with the level of disunity we found among ourselves today in where hatred and division is now the order of the day.

Remember that history has it that In the wake of the 20th Century, our area was threatened by the penetration of Europeans, mainly British colonists which finally led to heavy bloodshed, especially the Anglo-Aro War which took place from 1901-1902 which the Aro military Confederacy stoutly resisted but were eventually defeated which helped the British to occupy the rest of what is now known as Eastern Nigeria.

This man, Chief Ude Itum was said to have been responsible in making sure that Abiriba Kingdom was not attacked nor the King dethroned as it happened in every other neighbouring communities like Abam, Arochukwu, etc whose kingdoms were defeated and Kings dethroned by the British colonial powers.

According to my findings, Chief Ude Itum was playing game popularly known as "Azigo" at Obu Umueso when a soldier sneaked out from the war front to inform Abiriba that the British soldiers were very close and were about to enter Abiriba in order to kill, maim and destroy the kingdom. He (Ude Itum) was said to have left what he was doing and ordered that his box which contained Nkpola should be brought out. This Nkpola is worth hundreds of millions which he personally gave out to be used in settling the British and their armies which made them to run past Abiriba to capture and defeat other Kingdoms like Abam,Ohafia, etc without entering or touching Abiriba..

Today, the Enachioken stool and the entire Abiriba kingdom owe this great merchant and philanthropist a lot  of credit for what he did as we can boldly beat our chests as Nde Abiriba to outsiders and boast that " ABIRIBA IS THE ONLY UNDEFEATED AND UNTOUCHED KINGDOM BY THE BRITISH COLONIAL POWERS COURTESY OF UDE ITUM OF NDE AKWU ,UMUESO COMPOUND WHO USED HIS WEALTH TO PROTECT LIVES AND PROPERTIES IN ABIRIBA".

This history might sound as nothing to many, but I find it worthy to bring to our notice, because, "THE LABOUR OF OUR HEROES PAST SHALL NEVER BE IN VAIN IN ABIRIBA KINGDOM".

If we could wear the kind of hearts these people I am writing about wore in those days I can assure us that no community will ever abuse any Abiriba man or woman, but all hope is not lost.

God bless us.
Ancient house in Abiriba kingdom

THE FIRST ABIRIBA MAN TO LIVE IN ABA. NAME: LATE CHIEF AGU OKORIE IJEKPA - ( 1901-1986).

It is true that many Abiriba greats have lived and left this world when records were not written down, but oral histories has remain a valid source of accurate information till date.

Therefore,I have taken it as a duty to unearth some of our past and present heroes for everyone to take note of, including the unborn generations of Abiriba children.

Born in the year 1901 into the family of late Nnam Okorie Ijekpa of Nde Erim, Ameke, Abiriba. Late Chief Agu Okorie Ijekpa is an Abiriba great man and one of the pioneers of Abiriba's early and rapid development.

His friends and age mates were Ete Igwo Eleanya Kalu , H.R.H Okoro Ijagha, Ezekiel Dike Ukuku, George Ezikpe Anagha, Jonah Ndukwo Kalu (Ndukwonta), Orji Boco and so many of the greats who championed and pioneered the Abiriba development course.

He, alongside the above-mentioned Abirba greats and pioneers belongs to Nchina age grade of Abiriba popularly known as "Uke Compini/Company). This age grade remains the most productive in terms of having members who worked with unity of purpose which brought Abiriba to limelight both within and outside Nigeria.

They championed a lot of projects in Abiriba and made sure that those projects were not left half done or uncompleted. Late Chief Agu Okorie was a full partaker in many areas and remains a toast to those who knew him. His closest friend being Late Chief Orji Boco of blessed memories who happens to be his neighbour along Omaghuzo Ameke, Abiriba axis..

In keeping some records straight with facts and not fictions, late Chief Agu Okorie is on recorded as " THE FIRST ABIRIBA MAN TO RELOCATE AND LIVE PERMANENTLY IN ABA" before any other Abiriba man.

It will be a bad history or record to say he is the first Abiriba man to come to or visit Aba, because, records shows that before his relocation from Calabar to live permanently in Aba  that many Abiriba businessmen were already coming and going in Aba.

As at the time he came, many Abiriba businessmen were based mostly at Mbawsi which is not far from Aba, Enyimba city, and other places, but his relocation to live permanently in Aba provided succor to thousands of Abiriba businessmen and travelers who made his house in Aba a place to lay their heads and pass the nights until they were through with their various businesses they came for.

He did not care to know which part (Ameke, Amogudu or Agborji) his guests came from, he was only interested in the Abiriba man as he welcomed all with open arms. At a time, his house later turned to meeting venue for Abiriba people living in Aba since ACIU branch was not established yet by then.

Reveling under the old Abiriba spirit of "amuta ezi ibe", he invited many Nde Abiriba to come and explore the huge business opportunities in Aba and helped them establish

In business, he served a man known as Ete Nmah Agbagha whom he learnt the business rudiments from at Calabar before he became free. He traded on many items, but he was one of the early pioneers in agriculture in Nigeria in the 1940s.

He is the first Abiriba man to go into rubber/palm tree plantation when agriculture was the major source of income in Nigeria before the discovery of first crude oil at Oloibiri in present day Bayelsa State.

This was the time each region in Nigeria was known for a particular crop(s). For example, the Western part of Nigeria was known for cocoa production. The Midwest produced Timber and Rubber. The North produced cotton and groundnut. The East produced Rubber and palm oil.

Although all these foreign exchange earning crops have all been abandoned with everybody focusing solely on oil, the likes of Chief Agu Okorie made a good living out of these businesses in those days, employed many directly and indirectly before the business died due to oil discovery and lack of vision by Nigerian past and present rulers.

He owned about 84 acres of lands planted with rubber at Umuosi, and 30 acres of lands planted with palm trees at Umuejei, in present Obingwa LGA,Abia state.

He sold his rubber latex to firms like M.N.K in Calabar which was known for rubber export in those days, and his kernels to oil mills in Aba, Mbawsi, etc. He later joined other smaller rubber producers in Aba area and environs to form a union through which they collected together their rubbers and sold to firms in need. All these were the time Aba had few rich men. A time when the likes of late Anambra millionaire , D.D. Onyemelukwe held sway in Enyimba city.

He was helped mostly also because he could read and write very well, having passed up to standard 3 when education in Nigeria was qualitative.

Just as he was a strong pillar in his age grade, the great Nchina Age grade (Uke company), he was not lacking in the religious side of life too.

ON RELIGION:

He worshiped briefly with the Church of Scotland Mission (C.S.M),Abiriba before he left for Calabar where he joined The Apostolic Church in Calabar, present Cross River State.

Record is pointing at him as the man who, alongside Pastor Ogbonnaya Kalu Emeri, brought the church " The Apostolic Church" ( T.A.C) from Calabar to Aba, finding the first branch at Omuma Road in Aba.

After striving to raise members which included mostly indigenes (Ngwa people) who provided accommodation for the Church at Omuma Road, however, a disagreement ensued when the likes of Chief Agu Okorie and few others insisted that the Church's pattern of worshiping God which by then was mostly by clapping hands without using instruments must remain whereas the indigenes wanted bands to be introduced.

This disagreement later split the church and members into two with the indigenes taking over their land and premises , and today, the church is known as Apostolic Christian Church Mission (A.C.C.M) in which they (indigenes) later introduced bands.

Chief Agu Okorie and his few followers who believed in the old doctrines of the church were left with the difficult tasks of raising money to find new accommodation for a place of worshiping God and also raising other new member.

Being the most financially capable man amongst the few members who believed in the doctrines of the old Apostolic church, he was said to have volunteered and used his personal money to buy a plot of land at 161 Azikiwe Road, Aba so that they could continue worshiping God.

He later donated the land to the church and warned his children to hands-off the property and never to drag it as their father's land when he is gone as he has donated and dedicated the land to God.

He accomplished a lot of things both in individual, community, religious and business life.

He also championed the establishment of the Apostolic Church in Abiriba and was a full active member of ..T.A.C before his death on 20th April, 1986 at the age of 85 years.

He made Abiriba proud and lived a life that is worthy of emulation.

Gob bless Abiriba land.

A WARRIOR AND BIGGEST LAND OWNER OF ABIRIBA: OKORONTA AGWUOCHA

I have always believed as a history lover that wherever a statue of an individual or an edifice is erected, that a historical fact must follow such. So, based on this personal conviction ,my train of investigation took me down to Ezi Nde Okoronta (Nde Okoronta Compound), Ameke, Abiriba, to unravel the history behind this muscular-looking old-time warrior whose statue was recently erected in front of the Ezi Nde Okoronta compound in Abiriba.

I also believe that any individual whose statue appears in any compound or square in Abiriba must have done something significant or commendable to warrant remembering. Therefore, we will all be remembered in life one way or the other whether we did good or bad things while alive, because, records of our exploits are being taken but unknown to most of us.

WHO IS THIS MAN? I ASKED.

The statue of the man we see today at the entrance of Ezi Nde Okoronta, Ameke, Abiriba, is our subject matter today. The statue is that of the man who opened the Nde Okoronta compound called " OKORONTA AGWUOCHA". According to my findings, Okoronta Agwuocha's root is said to be traceable to Amuri , Nkporo in the present Ohafia Local government Area of Abia State,Nigeria and nobody can vividly say how many years or centuries ago the compound came into existence.

His exploits as a great warrior is not a tales-by-moonlight story, rather a history surrounded with physical evidence to show till date. Therefore, it will not be an exaggeration to say that Okoronta Agwuocha happens to be one of the richest men of his time in Abiriba and from available evidence, he still remains one of the richest till date going by the enormous amount/acres of lands which runs into hundreds if not thousands of acres in his name after many decades or centuries of his death.

Okoronta Agwuocha was a great warrior who owns road (Uzo) of his own known as Uzo Nde Okoronta, and the lands he amassed can be traced from Abiriba to Nkporo till date. No wonder no compound (Ezi) in Abiriba can match the Nde Okoronta people in terms of acres of lands owned due to the exploits of their founding father. I was told that Okoronta Agwuocha was the one who donated the lands known today as "Ali Nde Oriri" to the Nde Oriri compound people who were said to have assisted him in some of his exploits during wars.

As if that is not all, Okoronta Agwuocha also owns acres of lands in Amanta farming lands (Uzo Ubi Amanta) donated to him by the Amanta people for helping them out of the hands of a giant warrior known as Ebe from Nde Ebe in those days. He owns lands given to him by the Amanta community and the lands includes "OSIRI-IGWO", "IHU UZO AFIA", and " NGHURA". This Nghura farming land which till date is still owned and farmed by the Ezi Nde Okoronta people is the boundary between Amanta and Nde Ebe Abam,in Bende LGA,Abia State.

EZI NDE OKORONTA has Three principal families known as "NDE-E- MANG", "NDE-E-CHUKWU", and "NDE-E- ISIELE".  Meanwhile, I was able to find out that Okoronta had Five children, namely: (1): MANG. (2): CHUKWU (3): ISIELE (4): EBI and (5): UKEFI.

However, as a great and wise warrior who owns acres of land,he was said to have divided and shared all his lands among his Five children named above without discrimination, and whenever they want to farm, they will do so en-mass. Unfortunately, one of his children, Ukefi, died without having any child to take possession of his portion of lands. Based on this, the other remaining Four brothers  MANG, CHUKWU, ISIELE and EBI agreed to be sharing and farming on Ukefi's lands to prevent his portion turning into thick forest, and the agreement stood that way till date.

OWNING LANDS IN UZO AMANTA:

I was told that Okoronta had a sister who was married to a man from Amanta and that he (Okoronta) loved eating corn and Esusu, two Abiriba food delicacies which the Amanta people are known for as he was said to be a frequent visitor to his sister's place in Amanta to eat corn and esusu. Then he was said to have gone to Amanta one day only to discover that the people of Amanta have not gone to the farm to harvest his favourite corn. Upon his enquiry, he was told that a giant warrior from Nde Ebe Abam has been killing, molesting and preventing the Amanta people from going to farm, and sometimes, when they want to,they will go en-mass out of fear.

Okoronta was said to have prepared as a warrior he was, went on a finding mission to ascertain who the Ebe was,and to cut the whole thing short, he came back home, put his strategies in order and went after the giant warrior from Nde Ebe, Abam,in Bende LGA,killed him and came back home with the head of the Ebe as an evidence of his success, and while coming back, he cut the head of the Ebe alongside a branch of Osu tree which also serves as medicine for Cough. He was said to have dropped the machete with which he cut the head of the Ebe at the round edifice painted with white found before the entrance of the Ezi Nde Okoronta popularly known as "OBASI NDE OKORONTA". The Osu tree can still be found inside the Obasi Nde Okoronta edifice as can be seen on the picture attached.

Because of this help, the entire Amanta people agreed to give him some portions of Amanta farm lands such as Osiri-Igwo, Isi Uzo Afia and Nghura, and like I earlier noted, Nghura happens to be the boundary between Amanta and Nde Ebe Abam, and his children from Nde Okoronta still farms in all these lands till date, and the farms are shared among the Nde-e-Mangs,Nde-e-Chukwus and Nde-e-Isieles of Nde Okoronta.

Okoronta Agwuocha made wealth through amassing hundreds and or thousands of acres of lands which his children from Nde Okoronta are still enjoying today. I never heard that he used his powers against the people of Abiriba, rather, he made sure that other parts of Abiriba under siege from outside invaders were secured.

He made wealth and never discriminated among his children in the sharing of his lands, and till date, the Nde Okoronta compound arguably remains the compound with the highest number of acres of lands in Abiriba because of their forefather/founder's exploits.

Let's doff our caps for the greatest warrior of his time whose exploits are still surrounded with evidences on ground, and we doff our cap for Late Chief Okoronta Agwuocha, founder of Nde Okoronta compound,Ameke,Abiriba.

Finally, no one living can tell when he died or how old he was before his death, but records available till date shows that he was a great father who, according to the Bible "LEFT A GOOD NUMBER OF LEGACIES AND WEALTH BEHIND FOR HIS CHILDREN".

Fundamental to the realisation of such an approach is the development of a firm conviction in the inherent nobility of human nature. Many questions arise: How can the process of education nurture that inherent nobility in us? How can the educational system empower a child to become a protagonist of his personal increase and improvement, and turn out to be a responsible global citizen? How can the procedure encourage adolescents and youth to have interaction in social action and make contributions to the transformation of society?

We need to consider what type of capabilities would imbue the learner with an understanding of concepts, ideas, skills, abilities, characteristics and attitudes which are so crucial for the advancement of civilisation. What must represent the elements of an evolving conceptual framework that could guide action and enhance the twofold reason in each child and youth? What are its implications for the school education system?

These questions are the concern of every stakeholder on this rewarding journey of education – a journey that by no means ends, and in which every degree of life is filled with numerous possibilities and challenges. It calls for no less than a rethinking of education.

Education System

For this process to be pursued in a humble posture of learning, it is vital to seriously examine the contemporary technique to education. Let’s introduce radical changes that retain lessons of the past at the same time as it introduces and implements new ideas. A wealth of expertise is to be had on the importance of moral empowerment and the need for bringing approximately a change in character, mind-set and attitudes of adolescents and youth.

The operating principle for this should be the oneness and wholeness of humanity. On this regard, the efforts of the global Baha’i community deserve serious study and attention.
